Getting to Know You
Please take a piece of cardstock, fold it in half and write your name on the front. Please place it on the table in front of you.

Because we all love books, tell us about one book that you read this summer that others might enjoy reading as well. Also, tell us your name and your school.

Mission Statements
Every library needs a mission statement. It helps keep you focused as you build your program. Today we are going to write our own mission statements. If you already have a mission statement, this might be a good time to update your mission statement. You can use the resource below to guide you in developing your mission statement.

Creating Mission & Vision Statements

Once you have a working mission statement, write it on a white sheet of paper. Now let's provide feedback to our colleagues regarding their working mission statement.

Following today be sure to consider the feedback and refine your mission statement. Consider going a step further and developing a vision statement. Once you have a mission statement finalized, how are you going to use it to drive your work?
