What is a Digital Breakout? (8:50-8:55)
By now you may have experienced a breakout box, but what about a digital breakout? A digital breakout is great to use when you don't have enough boxes for all of your student groups or maybe the locks you have don't fit your needs. With a digital breakout all you need is a device, an internet connection, and a little bit of imagination.

Digital Learning Competencies or DLCs are now in effect for teachers and administrators, and as a School Library Media Coordinator you have a great opportunity to help teachers navigate the DLCs. Let's take a closer look at the DLCs.

We will work in groups to help you breakout! One person from each group please visit the link below to self-enroll in the course. The person that is self-enrolling please claim an account.

DLC Applications (10:15-10:40)
The DLCs are a great way for you to show leadership in your school. Each group needs a piece of chart paper to answer the following questions about their assigned Focus Area.

  • What are some examples of how you are already modeling this Focus Area?
  • How can you support teachers with regards to this Focus Area?
  • What professional development opportunities could you provide to help teachers learn more about this Focus Area?

Once your group finishes, please hang your chart paper in the room. Then, take time to review each group's responses and provide suggestions, reflections, etc. on sticky notes.
